Design student Lee Wei Chen has come up with this novel approach to doing your laundry. Chen, a student at Kingston University, explained that he wanted to transfer some of the skills he had learned in the virtual world as a child to his adulthood. His prototype device features a screen for playing racing games above the usual drum used for washing. Although this is a nice novelty, he goes on to explain that his concept is more complex than it first appears. The circuitry is linked so that your performance on screen affects how much your washing cycle will cost. So if race like Lewis Hamilton, you’ll get your washing done for free. Have a dodgy pitstop and you’ll have to put in an extra 50p.
